Richard Leathers, age 80, of Louisville, went home to be with the Lord with his family at his side, on Monday, June 12, 2017. Richard was born to the late Paul and Katheryn Leathers in Anderson Co. Kentucky, on October 7, 1936. He was a member of Okolona Christian Church and the Beaver Creek Masonic Lodge #335. He retired from General Electric after 37 years of service. He loved Jesus and his family, especially his great granddaughters. Richard's smile was his trademark exhibiting kindness and generosity to all. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, and he was a true blue loyal Wildcat fan. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Among those that preceded him in death include his parent's, and his sister Maxine Hughes.
He leaves to cherish his memory, (the love of his life) his wife, of 62 years, Shelby Leathers; two sons, James Richard Leathers (Sandy) and Gregory Lynn Leathers (Cheryl); three grandchildren, Whitney Lynn Moisa (Claudiu), Blake Richard Leathers (Mackenzie) and James Richard Leathers II; two great granddaughters, Ahna Grace Moisa and Sadie Jean Leathers and one sister Bettie Roby.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 16, 2017 in the chapel of Okolona Christian Church, 10801 Faithful Way, Louisville KY. 40229, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Washington. Friends and family may pay their respects on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home and on Friday from 10:00am until time of the service.
